I’m waaaaayyy too hype for fantasy books of any kind honestly. If you’ve read the first series by this author, i’m sure you’re even more hype for this than I am! From what i’ve heard, a bunch of the characters from the original series make appearances in this one, except they’re older!
If you’re curious, here’s an excerpt to give you a taste of these books!
Finally, she saw it. The tower. It was tall and thin but widened at the top. The roof was pointy and the outside of the tower was weathered. Clearly, it was in need of serious upkeep having been abandoned for some twenty years, according to Leitis.
She took the vial of potion from a bag tied to her belt. Leitis had given her strict instructions to pour the potion onto the ground in front of the door. So she did. Then she saw a sparkling blue veil appear, covering the entire tower. It slowly began to melt away, disappearing into the ground. Smiling, she reached out to open the door.
“You don’t plan on going in there, do you?”
Sarita jumped when she heard his voice. She spun around and glared at Cassidy. “What are you doing here?”
“I am currently wondering if you have lost your mind. You don’t know what is inside of that thing. There could be traps.”
“Leitis has been inside it, Cassidy. He is a wizard. If there were traps, he would have known.”
He wasn’t convinced but didn’t say anything else as he watched her open the door and walk inside. He sighed and entered behind her, climbing the winding and dirty stairs to the room at the top. Slowly, Sarita pushed the creaking door further open and stepped inside. It was dusty and smelled like old books. Sarita was thrilled.
Her smile faded when she heard the door close behind her.
“Please tell me that you didn’t close that door,” she said, without turning around. “Please tell me that you didn’t just lock us in here, Cassidy.”
“Uh…” He turned around and jiggled the door handle. “Oops.”
I just really really love Cassidy already, guys! And also I love how lovable the characters are made to be, in just a short amount of time!
