Given that many of you have other obligations besides reading (if you don’t, how dare you I’m jealous) things can become a little bit crazy to say the least. You’ve got school and/or your job, extra-curricular activities, personal things going on… If you think about it, it’s a wonder that we even have time to breathe, let alone read a full length novel!
In other words:
your plate is full!
So how how how do we keep reading during times like these? HA, good question, because I too still struggle with this, BUT I have figured out a few ways to make things a little easier on all of us 🙂
The holy grail for a busy reader!
And yeah, yeah, yeah there are some who say that listening to a book isn’t actually reading it, but I completely disagree. Words are words no matter what form they are in, so if you prefer listening to them, you go for it!
You’re probably getting more reading done than those silly geese who insist audiobooks are “the lazy way to read”. You can listen in the car or while doing chores or exercising! The possibilities are endless! Plus, sometimes looking at paragraphs after a long day just makes you want to fall asleep no matter how good the book is!
I’ve had a bit on my mind lately, and though I enjoy Outlander a lot, the whole 10,000,000,000 page thing kinda made me dizzy. Sometimes you just gotta let yourself read that steamy romance about the hot alien next door (I’m looking at you, Lux series).
Fluffy books are great because they help your mind relax and they take your focus off of your busy-life-woes and on to something a little less-crazy like smokin’ hot extra-terrestrials.
Take A Break
(I won’t lie… I listened to Hamilton’s “Take A Break” like three times before writing this section and now I’m sobbing look what blogging does to me)
This is for the SUPER busy people!
Sometimes you just gotta take a break! Forcing yourself to read is just not good. It could lead to the dreaded reading slump, and that’s a whole other beast in itself!
And honestly, if your mind is so full of other things, adding a book on top of that isn’t good for you or the book. For one, if you are that busy you should probably focus on getting less-busy. Secondly, you probably won’t enjoy the book as much as you would in other circumstances!
If you wish you could read, but you’re in this position maybe listen to some book themed playlists (There are many on 8tracks and spotify) or watch some book-tube!
And there you have it!
We will get through these busy, hard-to-read times together 🙂
